Time keeps escaping...
Boy, where does the time go?! It does go by fast! Just talked to a friend on the phone for the first time in five months!! Didn't think that much time would ever pass without talking with one of our friends! And sure enough the time escaped us. It was good to catch up and also have the reminder that we shouldn't be so out of touch. It's amazing all of the ways we have to keep in touch with one another (phone, cell phone, e-mail, snail mail, IM) and we still struggle with it!
Well a quick update for you all. September we found out mid way through that Becks would be laid off. And that we would have to keep it quiet from everyone for two weeks as he finished up projects and cleaned up his email boxes. Boy, was that hard! People, including family, would ask us how things were going at work and we would have to give generic answers. But this was an area of our life that we have been praying for ever since we have been married it seems. That God would provide the right position at the right place in His time. Well we didn't know when that time would come, but after several years we were beginning to see what God had in store. God placed several key people in our lives at just the right time. And through one of these people Becks was able to get some advice and some names of people to contact. Not too long after Becks was in interviews and got a job offer. He went two weeks without a job. In that time he was able to accomplish some outside work at home as those weeks were sunny and in the mid-80s. God is amazing! Becks started at PAE Consulting Engineers mid-October and gets to work downtown in an area that he had hoped for. A true answer to prayer from every aspect!
October also brought Lee's 26th birthday on the 28th! We celebrated with our friends at Manzana for dinner in downtown. We went and picked out some desserts at a local market and took them back to our friends house and enjoyed them. It was a great evening!
November 11th we celebrated four fabulous years as a married couple! It was a wonderful evening. We dined at Oba in downtown! It was quite the trendy place. And the food was fantastic. Lee had the best ever prime rib while Becks had the hazelnut crusted halibut. We even saved room for dessert :) Thanksgiving came not too long after our anniversary. And this was our first time of hosting! Turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry relish, and all. We made it! Luckily we didn't eat it all alone. Becks' uncle, Brian, happened to be in the area working and he came over and shared dinner with us. We were loaned a TV from friends at church. (For those of you who don't know...we don't own a TV. We don't even own a microwave.) So we were able to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade and football! It was fun! We went out in the evening to watch The Incredibles. Oh, yes the food all turned out just delicious.
It goes almost without saying that during all of this time we have also continued working hard on projects around our house. Preparing for Christmas!
December came! And we celebrated Becks' birthday last Monday the 13th! The big 31! He decided that he would like to dine at Romano's Maccaroni Grill. Which happens to be directly across the street from his office. So we could see his building while we dined. It was pretty neat. The food was of course very good. And we saved room once again for dessert :) Chocolate cake and tiramisu!! We have been continuing to shop and wrap for Christmas! We sent presents out to Lee's parents and to her sister and brother-in-law. And we have been receiving packages of gifts from both sides of the family. Becks' parents, brother, sister-in-law and twin nieces (almost two years old) are coming out on Friday!! Christmas Eve. They will be spending the week with us! We are so excited! It has been about seven months since we have seen them all! It is going to be a great time!! Speaking of packages, Becks' grandma in CA sent us a box full of fudge and banana bread! We have enough to last us a few months! All for our Christmas with the family! She must want us to really pack on the pounds this holiday season!
Well this turned out to be a bit more than a quick update. But then again it has been quite awhile since our last! Thanks for reading to the end all of you who did! Now you know a little more about what has been going on in our lives the past couple of months :)
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and many wishes for a happy new year!
