Seaside
This is where Becks' most recent relay race ended. At the beach in Seaside, OR. Not a bad place to finish running! It was a great experience for Becks. Getting to run in the Hood to Coast relay. It is a much sought after race here in Oregon. One of Nike's teams usually ends up winning. No big surprise!! Becks' team was comprised mainly of people who had rarely run. So they didn't finish with all that great of a time. Becks is hoping to run again next year, but hopefully with a more runner filled team. Congrats to Becks for taking the hardest leg of the whole relay. Adding up to more than 20 miles over all. He did great. His first leg was a bit hard as that Friday was in the 90's and he was running in direct sun. After starting to experience some heat exhaustion he decided to walk part of that leg. I got to meet up with his 'van' full of people for dinner at one guys house in Portland after they completed their first legs. They all seemed tired all ready. The heat had a lot to do with that. After 10ish they started running again into the night. They stopped to sleep in some field in front of someones house at 5:30 and were awakened at 7 and told they were sleeping in the wrong place. But prior to that they were not sleeping all that soundly as they were near an exchange point and could hear teams cheering and there were car alarms that were going off as well. So it was a not so restful nights sleep. My friend, Kari and I drove out to Seaside on Saturday morning with her seven-month-old son, Josiah, to watch them run across the finish line and to pick Becks up. It was a great experience just to see all of the teams, hear their team names and see how they decorated their vans. It was a beautiful day at the beach which was wonderful! I am sure I am leaving tons of details out and that I got some of my info wrong, but that is what happens when Becks doesn't blog about the happenings in his life! Someone has to keep you up-to-date!
